Cleveland County Herald

RISON – Cleveland County was among 100 communities from across the country selected to host a Flag of Honor ceremony last week honoring the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

County Judge Melody Spears told those gathered for the ceremony on the courthouse lawn last Friday morning, Sept. 10, that the county was one of 100 communities selected by the Flag of Honor/Flag of Heroes Project to host such an event.

John Michelotti, founder of the Flag of Honor/Flag of Heroes Project, said on the project’s website that the purpose of Flags of Honor is to honor all the victims of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 as well as the Feb. 26, 1993, terrorist attack when a truck bomb was exploded at the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.
