Sebastian County judge proposes sobering center for jail overcrowding

"The jail is over capacity regularly so if we can not bring them in their in the first place. Get them hopefully treated and steer them in another manner," Sebastian County Judge David Hudson said.

SEBASTIAN COUNTY, Ark. -- - Sebastian County is one step closer to finding another solution for jail overcrowding.

A River Valley judge has proposed what he calls a sobering center.

The center would take in arrestees under the influence of drugs or alcohol in hopes of freeing up cells in the county jail.

Sebastian County Judge David Hudson said "The San Antonio Model" is the county's inspiration.
