Conway County QC appoints Birkner as county treasurer

The Conway County Quorum Court has agreed to appoint Carl Birkner to fill the unexpired term of the County Treasurer. The court held a special meeting Monday to review applications for the position, and following a relatively brief executive session, unanimously voted to appoint the longtime state legislative auditor to the position.

The Conway County Quorum Court has agreed to appoint Carl Birkner to fill the unexpired term of the County Treasurer. The Court held a special meeting Monday to review applications for the position, and following a relatively brief executive session, unanimously voted to appoint the long-time state legislative auditor to the position. A formal resolution approving the appointment of Birkner will be part of the Court's regular meeting agenda on Thursday. The vacancy in the office of county treasurer comes upon the retirement of Treasurer Wayne DeSalvo, effective January 1st. The term expires December 31st, 2026, and Birkner will not be eligible to run for election to the position at that time.
