Board of Directors of the Southwest Arkansas Regional Solid Waste Management District approves recycling grant


The Board of Directors of the Southwest Arkansas Regional Solid Waste Management District recently met in Nashville for their quarterly meeting.The board of directors is made up of the county judges and mayors of the largest cities in their respective counties. The participating counties include: Howard, Pike, Little River, Sevier, Hempstead, Nevada, Polk and Lafayette. The board approved the recycling grant applications. The total application amount was $200,266.

The Board of Directors of the Southwest Arkansas Regional Solid Waste Management District recently met in Nashville for their quarterly meeting. The board of directors is made up of the county judges and mayors of the largest cities in their respective counties.

The participating counties include: Howard, Pike, Little River, Sevier, Hempstead, Nevada, Polk and Lafayette.

The board approved the recycling grant applications. The total application amount was $200,266. Landfill manager Mitch Nobel reported $25,000 was for an administrative grant for the Upper-Southwest Arkansas Regional Solid Waste Management District and $25,266 was for a transportation grant for the district. He said $75,000 would help Polk County Development Council construct a building for recycling activities and $75,000 would be used to help bring the Little River County transfer station into compliance.
